Web Hosting
What Is Managed Web Hosting?
Understand what a managed hosting provider may look after and which responsibilities still need to be confirmed.

The word “managed” is not a standard package. One plan may manage only the server, while another also maintains WordPress, monitors uptime and helps with restores. Compare the responsibility table, not the label.
Possible Managed Inclusions
- Hosting infrastructure and control-panel support.
- SSL certificate provisioning and renewal.
- Server-level monitoring and security controls.
- Scheduled backups and documented retention.
- WordPress core, plugin and theme updates.
- Migration assistance and restore support.
- Performance configuration and caching.
Common Items to Clarify
- Does support cover the website application or only the server?
- Are email and domain renewal separate?
- How often are backups made and where are they stored?
- Are restore requests included?
- Who tests forms, checkout and page behaviour after updates?
- Who owns the domain, site files, database and licences?
Match the Plan to the Site
A brochure website, high-traffic publication and ecommerce store do not have the same risk or resource needs. Ask how the plan handles traffic changes, storage, staging, security incidents and urgent application problems.
Practical note: My IT Shop publishes Australian web hosting at $49 per month. Confirm the current inclusions, website requirements and any separate domain, email, maintenance or licence costs before ordering.
